Celebrities

I have decided to compile a list of some of my most memorable celebrity encounters. They are not in chronological order.

1. David Beckham. David popped into Borders while I was working there a couple of times and was always very polite and low key. He only ever had one security guard with him and SMELT AMAZING. Well done David.

2. Barbara Windsor. I met Babs before she got her role on Eastenders at the opening of a Wyevale Garden Centre in St Albans. I was only around 7 or 8 at the time but I was already a big fan. My granny's idea of childcare was a box of Carry On videos and homemade chips (yum). My favourites were Carry On Henry and Carry On Up The Khyber - cinematic excellence I think you'll agree. Anyway, Babs was lovely and just as you would expect, she gave me a hug and everything.

3. Alan Titchmarsh. Alan was signing copies of his new fiction book (can't remember the title) in Borders on a day I was working. It was coming up to my Mother's birthday so I decided to get him to sign a Happy Birthday message to her in the front of his new book. He was TINY but nice enough. Unfortunately the Titchmarsh fan club can't have got the memo because not many people turned up. But he stayed for a couple of hours looking lonesome, good on ya Alan.

4. Emma Bunton. This final addition to my list was not a pleasant encounter. After atleast a decade of Spice Girl worship (I'm not ashamed) I finally got to meet one of my musical heroes at a local open farm where I was working in the coffee shop.

I eagerly enquired what Ms Bunton would like from the selection and receieved a reply "One Belgian bun". That's right, Bunton wanted a bun. But not just any bun, after selecting the one closest to my tongs I plated the bun and passed it to Baby Spice. She then gave me a withering stare only to remark that this particular bun was not up to her high bun-standards. Apparently a small amount of icing had stuck to the bun tray and not remained intact to the rest of the bun. I replaced it with another and she did not thank me at all. She was RUDE and looked about 20 years older than she does on the telly. I knew there was a reason Geri was my fave.
